On Friday 22nd March, the boys football team played Hayes in a champions league game. The first half was very even but it was Hayes that went in 1-0 up at half time. The 2nd half continued with Pickhurst creating numerous chances, but unfortunately we were unable to take any and it was Hayes that went on to score a second and win the game by 2 goals to nil.
On Wednesday 27th March the boys football team played Warren Road in a champions league game. In a very open and entertaining game the final score was 3-3. The boys played some excellent football and gave their all as always.
On Friday 29th March the boys football team travelled to Thamesmead to take part in the SE England finals. The boys had already been crowned Bromley and Kent schools champions. The competition was split into 3 groups with only the winners progressing to a 3 way final. Unfortunately we lost our 1st game 1-0, drew our 2nd game 0-0 and won our final game 3-0. This meant we finished runners up in the group and our journey was to end here. The boys should be so proud of what they have achieved as to get this far was a massive achievement.
On Wednesday 3rd April a group of Year 4 girls took part in a football training day at Kent Cricket Ground set up by Crystal Palace. The girls had a wonderful morning learning some new skills and playing a few games. On the same day, the boys played a league and cup quarter final double header against Darrick Wood. The boys played extremely well winning the game 3-1 to claim 3 points and book a place in the semi final against Highfield.
On Thursday 25th April the Year 5/6 tennis team travelled to Bromley Tennis Centre to take part in the Bromley Schools competition. I am pleased to say the team played exceptionally well and won the competition and will now represent Bromley at the London Youth Games in Redbridge.
On Thursday 25th April the boys football team travelled to Orpington Rovers to play Highfield in the semi final of the Bromley Schools cup. The boys started the game really well and at half time led 1-0. The 2nd half started with Highfield having a few chances but it was Pickhurst that went 2 nil up. With only 7 minutes remaining Highfield got themselves back into the game with a well taken goal. With only seconds remaining a defensive error allowed Highfield an equaliser to take the game into extra time. Neither team could find a goal in extra time which meant the game would go to penalties. It was Highfield that went on to win the shootout and progress to the final.
On Wednesday 1st May the athletics team went to Norman Park to take part in the quad kids competition. Each athlete had to take part in 75m, 600m, howler throw and long jump. All of the children performed so well and just missed out on winning the competition by 1 point. It was a great team effort by the team and I was so proud of all their efforts.
On Thursday 2nd May we took a complete Year 5 football team to take part in the final champions league game of the season. Although we lost the game 5-2 it was a chance to give the boys a taste of things to come in Year 6. The boys enjoyed the experience and as the game went on grew more and more into the game.
