At Chancery Education Trust, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of our ethos, and we work hard to create an environment where pupils, staff, and families feel valued and connected.

Our Approach

We take a whole-school approach to wellbeing, recognising that strong mental health helps children learn effectively, develop resilience, and build healthy relationships. We promote wellbeing through:

  • A caring, inclusive school culture where pupils feel they belong.
  • High-quality teaching that supports emotional literacy and personal development.
  • Open communication with children and families to identify needs early.
  • Supportive relationships with trusted adults trained to listen, guide, and help.

Support for Pupils

We provide a range of support to help children manage challenges and build positive mental health, including:

  • Wellbeing lessons and PSHE curriculum
  • Pastoral support and mentoring
  • Access to safe spaces and quiet areas
  • Early intervention and referrals to specialist services when needed
  • Awareness sessions to help children understand and manage emotions

Creating a Healthy Environment

We encourage healthy behaviours that contribute to emotional wellbeing, including:

  • Regular physical activity
  • Opportunities for creativity and play
  • A balanced approach to academic expectations
  • Celebrating achievements and promoting self-esteem
  • Encouraging kindness, respect, and positive friendships

Working With Families

We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure pupils feel supported at home and school. We provide:

  • Advice and signposting to external agencies
  • Workshops and resources on wellbeing
  • A welcoming space for families to raise concerns

Our Commitment

We are committed to continually improving our mental health and wellbeing provision. Staff receive ongoing training, and we review our practices regularly to ensure we provide the best support possible.
